what a fantastic thanksgiving day we had! first, drove up to clarksville, mo for a brunch at the most adorable overlook farm. the food was fantastic & the atmosphere especially warm and welcoming…ended up being the perfect place to soak in the holiday spirit. soon after being seated we were brought an appetizer of chilled shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, black olives and crudites along with some sweet tea. the presentation was beautiful! next, for my dinner starter I sampled the baby spinach salad and the roasted sweet potato, fennel & onion bisque. i especially fell in love with the flavors of the bisque…the soup was flavorful on so many different levels and especially warming on the chilly day. definitely a recipe i will be trying to re-create.
next they let us loose on the buffet!! my plate was made up of heritage turkey with giblet gravy and homemade cranberry sauce, cornbread stuffing with cracklings & aromatics, smashed garlic & cream baby potatoes, baked sweet potatoes with pecans, maple syrus & petite artisan marshmallows (homemade), candied brussel sprouts with estate honey & triple smoke bacon, and glazed root vegetables (carrots, rutabaga, & turnips). every bite was as heavenly as it sounds & oh so satisfying!
we needed a good thirty minutes of food baby digestion time before dessert, but we sure did take advantage of the dessert buffet….
