Danks Street Depot
Danks Street Depot is a very chill laid-back cafe that serves some of the best breakfast in Sydney. This cafe is founded on the slow food movement and very conscious of using fresh, local ingredients while supporting ethical and sustainable farming. I found that so many places in Australia emphasized this principle, which made me love this country even more! We went to the Danks street location in the Gallery district, but if you ever find yourself in the Sydney airport around breakfast time, there’s a location here as well. It’s located in the international terminal but before the security checkpoint. Back to the food!
I started off with a nice soothing bowl of hot chocolate:
If you eat here you must must must try the creamed eggs! Seriously these eggs changed my life!
Sorry for the blurry pic, but these are Cornucopia Farm’s biodynamic eggs from the Hunter Valley. The dish is basically two eggs cooked with cream and butter served soft with chopped chives, truffle oil, roasted field mushrooms, herbed tomato and sourdough toast.
Warm polenta porridge topped with baked rhubarb and mint. Soo creamy and soothing.
Afterwards we wandered into Fratelli Fresh, an upscale market that was just down the street. This seemed to be the Australian equivalent of Dean & Deluca and of course I fell in love with it!!
